This is going to be exciting!! Already there is quite a buzz building on Facebook!
Puppy Prom will be simple:
....you have music outside, I recall you saying that there was some. Will there be a microphone?
Could your mixologist put together a Prom Drink? Bully Punch..haha
We will put together the evite and jpg.
We will put together the balloons.
Going to charge a $5 entry fee for males/females to enter to win "King" or "Queen" - 100% of this money will be donated to FUPI - Foreclosed Upon Pets
The TV Stations already love the idea and will be booking media appearances to talk about Puppy Prom and why it is being held at Rumor Hotel.
Date Thursday May 19th from 6-8pm
Half off drinks and appetizers
All dogs must be leashed and well supervised at all times!
What is the lowest rate for a room for that night for a room for ....to put purses etc in.
That's pretty much it....will be inviting media judges to judge for Prom Queen and King! Let me know if you have any questions! Thanks!!

LOVE IT. YES WE HAVE MUSIC. NO MICROPHONE
THEN AGAIN! IN ANOTHER EMAIL! APRIL 5TH.
I just love the idea; music outside; no mic; if you want to rent one you can but I can get one from Dream Entertainment next door but it will probably cost you more. I will get together with Carey to see about the drinks.
How many people are you expecting; Attached is another format on the logo. When you have all the information please send it over for approval before distribution.
Thanks.

It has nothing to do with the balloons or tables; our management has changed and so has your event. We are no longer just "giving" our location for free. Please understand we need to make money to cover labor costs and when we comp the area and have space taken up by non paying customers our staff is losing revenue and so it the hotel.
I agreed to the previous event many months ago because it was a lot smaller and was not going to involve taking the entire patio or grounds area. I don't think in all fairness asking $10.00 per person cover to include a drink and appetizer is out of line.
Our happy hour is now one of the busiest in town because of the outdoor relaxing location and the generous 2-1 appetizers that we offer.
I do not understand why $10 + tax and gratuity is causing such a challenge. If anyone goes out in this town they expect to purchase a drink; we just need to be guaranteed that our staff and team earn a living.
There is no more "free" space at Rumor for any event. I understand that you state that there is going to be media coverage but we have NO guarantee as to the amount and what it involves for us. The agreement for the Bully Dog Happy hour we made before was for a different event and a different date and does not apply to this. WHAT NOT TRUE???? YOU LOVED IT ON APRIL 5th!!!
If you feel that your attendees will not pay $12.81 inclusive per person for a drink and food then I find that this is a challenge.
Unfortunately I cannot give the entire patio area complimentary for this event. I have to have some kind of a guarantee. I am confident as a business person yourself you understand this.
We have been more than generous with your group with Photo Shoots etc., which really did not benefit us at all but gave you the opportunity to promote your business with our assistance. Rumor was not featured promently in that shoot as we were promised but I did not come back to you asking for compensation for the use of the hotel when we were promised more publicity for that shoot. That shoot benefitted your business and nothing for Rumor. The fee for the shoot should have been $5,000 but because you did not keep up the promise of the publicity for that event we did not come back and ask for compensation from you. So when you say there is publicity involved for this event we are very cautious and understand that we may not be featured promently in that either so therefore as a business standpoint we need a minimum guarantee for the evening.
I am now asking that you understand that we really need to make this a business event for both parties.
You mention that you want a "cocktail" named after this event; I did not even know the name of this event until earlier in the week when I received the flyer. this is a labor issue for our mixologist to create and name a drink. All this costs Rumor. I understand your excitement over this event and I think it is a wonderful idea but I am also confident that there wouldn't be anywhere else in town who would not require a minimum to use their property. WHAT??? AGAIN NOT TRUE! "SEE I WILL GET TOGETHER WITH CAREY TO SEE ABOUT THE DRINKS." On April 5th Email!
If you wish to move forward with this event we would be delighted to have it here at Rumor but each person would be responsible for a $10.81 cost to Rumor to guarantee some revenue. I need to take an average of what we do on our happy hour daily and that is what we need as a minimum. $750 is very low and I am not asking you to pay it personally just guarantee. If you expect 75 people this should not be a challenge at all.
There is nothing in writing that agrees that we will do the PUPPY PROM complimentary. I was not given all the details and involvement in this event until earlier this week. If your team went ahead without my knowledge I cannot accept responsibility for that. Nothing should have been done without a written contract from Rumor with the outline of the event. I haven't even been given a timeline, event outline or anything so how can we offer something when we do not even know what it is. ONCE AGAIN NOT TRUE SEE APRIL 5 EMAIL!
The original event was a bully dog hour where a few people would come and sit on the patio and mix together - it was not a full blown event and this is where the challenge has been and where the changes have occurred. There were no table set ups - balloons - dog prom competition involved in the previous event this is an entirely different event which will involve set up - breakdown and service by our team and we need to ensure as a business that it is beneficial to all involved. Our usual venue fee for any event is $1,500.00 whatever the size. I am trying to work with you here and asking for just a guarantee. WHEN DID IT GO FROM $1500 - $750...etc...
I do not feel we are asking a huge amount to secure some revenue for the evening and anyone in business will appreciate that. I was under the understanding that there was a fee to enter this competition and from my conversation with Carole that adding another $10 on was not a problem... Rumor is not asking for thousands of dollars for a venue fee we are asking for a "guarantee" of $750.00 which is very reasonable.
Again if you would like to move forward with the cover charge we would be delighted to help you with this event. Unfortunately we cannot comp this event. There is no written contract or agreement for this event. I spoke to Carole and she did not clearly explain the extent of the event so until I received the outline yesterday that is where the whole thing changed. WHAT?? AGAIN LOOK AT THE TIMELINE!! SHE LOVED THE EVENT ON APRIL 5TH!
As I said it appears someone jumped the gun here with the promotion of this event without notifying the venue of the extent of the activities. Rumor cannot be responsible for that. THAT WOULD BE YOU!
If you wish to move forward please advise and I will send you a formal agreement outlining exactly what will be offered for this event.
Thank you.
THEN THIS FROM RUMOR
I understand you have been speaking with .....regarding your puppy Prom. I have had a request for another event on the same date you have on hold. Could you please let me know by 10 a.m. tomorrow if you are moving forward with this event. If not I am releasing the date to the other group.
Please note that ... authorized a $500 guarantee instead of the $750.00. Thanks.
So we did not answer - Because they would not honor their part of the agreement and I know first hand from their management that the questions such as "how are you going to guarantee that your dogs will not chew up the furniture, or pee on some piece of expensive furnishing" were asked! From a dog friendly hotel?? Please note that ... authorized a $500 guarantee instead of the $750.00. Thanks.
