B&D’s HOUNDS FOR HELPING HANDS RAISES OVER 2000 LBS OF PET FOOD !
This week-end on 12/4/10 a monumental groundbreaking event took place in the Las Vegas Valley . Bully Breed Couture Clothing and Accessory Company Bo & DeeMo co-sponsored a pet food drive that took place at Bogart’s Bone Appetit located on W. Tropicana and Fort Apache . On hand to lend their Celebratory status was the legendary “Pitbull of Comedy” Bobby Slayton and the self proclaimed “Princess of Porn” Sunset Thomas. Over 2000 lbs. of cat, dog food and crates and harnesses and treats were donated. The food and items raised will be distributed by Helping Hands of Vegas Valley who specializes in helping Low Income Seniors with food, driving to appointments, and more! Interesting pairings indeed but it just shows what kindred spirits who believe in the power of pets can do when they bond together!
The pet food drive had always been a dream of Bo & DeeMo and this year was the year to make it happen. Co-Owner Dee Mounts “Throughout the event donators commented on what a special event this was! They also said “Thank you” for doing such a great thing and bringing awareness and help to our seniors. Senior Citizens paved the way for our generations, feeding their pets is an honor and a small but intimate way to let them know we care. Pets are members of our families and an important part of keeping us focused, loved and healthy. You can't have a successful pet food drive without friends! We asked our friends to support this cause and they came through! New friends and established ones came, most by the car loads! We LOVE our Las Vegans!”
Utilizing the well known raspy and distinct voice of Bobby Slayton the PSA ’S announcing the drive ran on local stations including Kemp Broadcasting Stations KVEG 97.5 FM, KVGQ 106.9 FM and KMZQ 670 AM and CBS Radio Stations KLUC 98.5 FM, KXTE 107.5 FM, KXNT 840 AM and KMXB 94.1 FM and Highway Radio stations FM98/99-Highway Country-The Drive. Bobby promised “I will personally be on hand to meet and greet all of you, but don’t let that stop you!!” It did not stop anyone from donating! One truck alone pulled up and the owner’s unloaded and donated 575 lbs. of dog food! This was Mila who won the “Ultimate Grand Prize” which was a round of golf for four including balls and a cart at prestigious Canyon Gate Country Club. She also won the $50 Gift Certificate from Bo & DeeMo.
Even in these challenging times the generosity of people who donated was unbelievable. Dana Serrata – Executive Director of Helping Hands of Vegas Valley was in one word AMAZED! “We are so appreciative of Bo and DeeMo and Bogart’s Bone Appetit and all the people in our community that came out and donated! The pet food collected will enable us to serve not just our seniors, but also their furry friends – keeping both healthy and happy.”
Many people mentioned seeing Dee and Dana interviewed live on Channel 13 by Reporter Jessica Lovell and they were touched and came on by to donate!
Bobby Slayton did not growl at anyone, well not really and he said, “Glad that I could help out! I would like to thank my friend Sunset Thomas for stopping by and helping collect the food. A nice group of people and a great cause!” Sunset Thomas also commented that "I was grateful to be part of a good cause for my friends with paws!"
Bogart’s Bone Appetit stepped up to the challenge by not only providing as drop off points they also personally donated over 500 LBS of food from their shelves to provide help during the holidays to the seniors and their pets!
The B&D’s Hounds for Helping Hands also generated some food donations but remember HHOVV can always use help filling their pantry!
